Oklahoma Sooners Football
The Oklahoma Sooners went 6-7 in 2022-23 and finished in seventh place in the Big 12 with a 3-6 in-conference record. Naturally, this was a major disappointment as the Sooners were projected to finish at the top of the conference and compete for a CFP National Championship.
The Sooners qualified for the 2022 Cheeze-It Bowl in Orlando, Florida, where they lost to the Florida State Seminoles by a score of 35-32.
In 2023-24, Oklahoma is expected to compete for a Big 12 Championship during their final season as a member of the conference. Current NCAAF futures are off the board at the moment, but the Sooners’ odds are expected to place them at the top of the Big 12 and toward the top of the CFP lines.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Football
The Cowboys finished with a win-loss record of 7-6 overall, and 4-5 in the Big 12 in 2022-23. That was good enough to finish in fifth place in the Conference, but they fell short of their expectations of competing for a spot in the College Football Playoffs. The Cowboys faced off against the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bowl, losing by a score of 24-17.
The OSU Cowboys are expected to improve upon their record in 2022-23, and will likely compete for a Big 12 Conference Championship alongside the Sooners. If the Cowboys can manage to win the Big 12 with one loss or fewer, then they can expect to make it to the CFP.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane Football
The Golden Hurricane football team finished with a record of 3-5 in the AAC (American Athletic Conference) and an overall record of 5-7. Because their record was under .500, Tulsa did not qualify for a bowl game in 2022-23.
The University of Central Florida Knights and Cincinnati Bearcats are departing the AAC for the Big 12 next season. On paper, The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team will have an easier schedule in 2023-24, and expectations are high from local fans and gamblers alike.
